Lithium resources increased by 1200 per cent
Arizona Lithium (ASX:AZL) has completed its acquisition of Prairie Lithium, lifting the company's global lithium resource base by roughly 1,200% to 4.4 million tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent. The centrepiece is Prairie's Williston Basin project in Saskatchewan, Canada, hosting a JORC inferred resource of 4.1Mt LCE at 111mg/L — described by managing director Paul Lloyd as the highest quality inferred lithium brine resource discovered in Canada to date.
The transaction also delivered Prairie's proprietary direct lithium extraction technology, the Prairie Lithium Ion Exchange (PLIX) process, which produced positive results on samples from Arizona's Big Sandy project, along with C$1.074 million (about A$1.2 million) in Canadian government grant funding. Prairie Lithium founder Zach Maurer joined as executive director.
